Patricia graduated from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM) in 2008, and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Acupuncture from the Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture in 2010. She also recently completed a certificate program in Chinese Medicine Herbal Medicine at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in 2021.
She was motivated to pursue a career in naturopathic medicine after witnessing how it was able to treat her own infertility and her daughter’s eczema, relatively simply and inexpensively. Acupuncture courses were part of her curriculum at SCNM, and these quickly became her favorites. It was because of this that she decided to obtain additional training in acupuncture after completing her naturopathic medicine studies.
Her naturopathic medicine career started in private practice, as well as a member Arizona State University’s integrative medicine team. It was her love of the integrative medicine approach to healthcare that led her to accept a position as a Naturopathic Medicine consultant at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan, Georgia in 2013. In this role she provided oncology patients with naturopathic medicine recommendations that integrated with their medical oncology, radiation therapy and surgical treatment plans. Over time she transitioned into the role of acupuncturist, treating patients for conditions including pain, neuropathy, hot flashes/night sweats, anxiety, insomnia, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea/constipation, dysgeusia and xerostomia. It was incredibly rewarding to see how both naturopathic medicine and acupuncture allowed patients to undergo cancer treatment more gracefully, and what a difference these interventions made for even the sickest patients.
Patricia is very excited about joining the team at Atlanta Integrative and Internal Medicine (AIIM). She brings a wide range of experience to AIIM, not only enhance their oncology care team, but also to treat other patient conditions including male/female hormone, adrenal, thyroid and gut imbalances. While in naturopathic medical school she was taught to “take out the trash, give the body what it needs, and remove the obstacle(s) to heal”. Her goals include helping anyone who would like to shift their health by putting these principles into practice.
In her free time Patricia enjoys spending time being creative in her kitchen, attending Orangetheory and yoga classes, hiking, camping, kayaking and restoring her great grandmother’s heirloom quilts.
